F.A.Q.

That shaved patch is very common and nothing to worry about. It’s most likely from when the veterinarian drew a small blood sample for a heartworm test or placed an IV catheter for their spay/neuter surgery. The fur will grow back completely in a few weeks.

DAPPv is a core vaccine your poodle received. It’s a single injection that protects against four serious diseases: Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza. The rescue should provide a record showing the date it was given so your own vet knows when the booster is due.

No, it does not update automatically. The rescue will provide you with the microchip number and the company’s website. You must go online or call them to complete the registration transfer paperwork and pay a small fee (if any) to list yourself as the primary contact. This is a critical step!

For the purpose of adoption, yes, it is still valid. That certificate confirmed your poodle was healthy on the day of their vet exam before going home with you. It is not a guarantee of future health. You should schedule a “well-puppy” check with your own vet within the first week or two for a fresh baseline.

It’s best not to switch food abruptly, as it can cause an upset stomach. We recommend you continue feeding the provided kibble for at least the first week. This helps your poodle settle in without a sudden dietary change. After they are comfortable, you can slowly transition over 7-10 days by mixing increasing amounts of the new food with the old.
